Ruth Scott attended UC Berkeley where in 1965 she earned a BA in French followed by a Master's in Art History in 1969. In 1979 her education concluded with a doctrate from Southwestern University School of Law.

Ruth Scott came to the Castro firm in 1988 and has been primarily responsible for a variety of construction defect cases in Southern California, involving hundreds of condominium projects and single family residences. She assisted Mr. Castro in the acclaimed Monterey Hills case, contributing notably to both litigation and trial. She brought the same skills to several other trials and arbitrations. Notably, Ms. Scott has been involved with the apartment collapse that resulted in 16 deaths as a result of the Northridge Earthquake. Ms Scott also second-chaired in the Promenade Case, the first structural engineering design defect case in Los Angeles County.
Ruth Scott is noted for her extensive writing skills. She has prepared both appellate briefs and writs, and has participated in numerous site investigations that required interaction with structural, mechanical, and architectural experts.
