David H. Pierce attended UCLA, earning a Bachelor's in Psychology in 1971. In 1974 he received an M.A. in Environmental Health Science from the California State University, Northridge. He earned his doctrate in 1984 from the Southern California Institute of Law in Santa Barbara.

David Pierce comes to Castro & Associates with a strong background in construction defect litigation. For almost a decade, Mr. Pierce handled all aspects of complex construction litigation at Spray, Gould & Bowers. He has represented a broad cross section of clients, including developers, general contractors and subcontractors (both as plaintiffs and defendants), design professionals, and owners. Most notably he successfully represented the general contractor in a 20 million dollar construction defect case for the 1000 Westcreek units in Santa Clarita.

Mr. Pierce has practiced in related areas such as business interference tort cases, insurance bad faith claims, condemnation, real estate transactions, and governmental tort liability. He has also represented various public entities, among them the County of Ventura, the Ventura Flood Control District, the Ventura Waterworks District, the Ventura Department of Transportation, the Ventura Department of Environmental Health, and the Ventura Sheriffs Department and Department of Public Works departments. Mr. Pierce has served as a Temporary Judge for small claims court, as well as a civil case arbitrator.
For almost a decade Mr. Pierce was an Environmental Health Officer for Santa Barbara County where he ultimately assumed the position of Acting Director of Environmental Health. He was responsible for regulation and enforcement of multiple environmental programs, including waste water, land use, and hazardous materials. He interacted with and appeared before regulatory agencies at all levels. For many years, Mr. Pierce was a member of the prominent Environmental law firm, Haines, Russ, McMurry, and De Recat, where he contributed a chapter to the definitive treatise on Eminent Domain, a work found in every California library.

At the Castro firm, Mr. Pierce recently represented Bel Air Crest owners against the developer, general contractor and subcontractors and was instrumental in obtaining over $13,000,000 for the owners. This reported case is one of the largest per unit settlements in Los Angeles County, with gross settlements averaging over $450,000 per home.
